High School Summer Conference

A Word from Conference Director Jayson French

So, why does CIY SUmmer COnference have a new name?

Christ In Youth has always haf a summer conference, but "summer conference" has never had it's own descriptive program name. Often, when people refer to "CIY" they are talking about the summer conference. As a result, many of CIY's other programs are often confused with the summer conference. It's kind of like opening up a great place to eat and calling it "Restaurant" as the main name.

In 2008, the summer conference will finally have its own name: MOVE. It's more than a theme; it's a call to action. Here's the premise:

God Moves. He chose to move py a pillar of fire by night and a pillar of coud by day. he leads his children to MOVE into a better land. When we were first dead in our sins, it was His Move that brought us life, and because of this the Gospel is the most important thing we can know. It is why Paul preached "as of first importance" in 1 Corinthians 15. We were moved. It is because of this action - the life of Jesus - that we can enter God's presence, draw near to Him, and encourage others to do the same.

God is the first to MOVE...and because of He has, we can.

He has allowed His church to MOVE. This summer and this year, over 30,000 students on 5 different continents will follow His leadand MOVE. We invite you and your High School ministry to MOVE. We invite you to one of over thirty-five events being held world-wide to call the church to MOVE. We call tens of thousands of students into Kingdom work. MOVE is a 5 day event held all around the world which calls High School students to live for the sake of the Gospel. MOVE focuses on the importance of TRUTH, WORSHIP, AND COMMUNITY and then moves your students BEYOND THE EVENT.

Our goal is not for you and your students to attend an event. Our goal is to be a part of God raising up 250,000 students to ive for the sake of the Gospel. We want students to reach in their community for the sake of the Gospel; to align their career choices for the sake of the Gospel. We want students to look now for opportunities to serve locally and globally for the sake of the Gospel. We want to challenge your students to draw up a detailed ministry plan of what they will do in the next year for the sake of the Gospel. This summer, God will call us to MOVE, will your student ministries MOve with us?

MOVE promises to be a challenging and ministry-leading conference for High School students and leaders. God has set the call in motion for his people to become Kingdom workers. This generation will respond to that call.

Student Life In January

Welcome back from winter break. We hope you all had a great Christmas and some good time to reflect on this past year’s events.

2008 is going to be a great year, full of change and opportunity. And, it’s going to totally rock. Not only do we have some great events planned, both big and small, but we also have some great lessons planned to help us grow deeper in our relationships with Jesus.

Since the church as a whole is focusing on the year’s theme, "Come Follow Jesus," it seems smart for Student Ministries to explore what that means, and dig deeper to find out who Jesus is. So, both Jr. High and High School Wednesday night bible studies will focus on helping students know Jesus by introducing them to his many different titles/roles.
